Introduction

Hey everyone!

My name is Emma McCann. I am a second year Sport Management Student at Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario. I am an avid sports fan. My favourite sports are hockey and baseball, but when it comes to the Olympics, I'll watch anything. My father has owned a sports store my whole life and I grew up playing soccer, hockey, and rugby. With me and sports it was love at first sight. Because sport has been so prevalent in my life, I decided to go to school to pursue my passion. My interests do not stop at just sport. I am an avid traveller; I take at least one road trip a year with friends and family. I also love music. I always have something playing, from country, to hip hop, to pop, to classical; I have it all.

I have created this blog to do weekly reflections and reports for one of my courses, ADED 1P32 or "Learning in Digital Contexts." This blog will serve as a way for me to communicate thoughts and ideas on the weeks readings and activities for the class, which will relate to digital tools to augment the learning process. I enrolled in this class to learn about different ways in which I can use the internet and web tools to enhance my education and to make digital connections.

I use the internet a lot, but rarely for academic purposes other than simply "googling" things for reports. I am a typical teenager who is always glued to her phone. Facebook. Twitter. Instagram. Snapchat. I've got them all. But I have never used the internet for anything other than my social interests. I believe this class will help to open my eyes to all the amazing tools I can utilize for my education and hopefully in the future with my career. I will also use this blog as a personal reflection tool to help to figure out who I am as a learner and how I can develop these skills.

I am hoping I can use these weekly reflections to take a break from the stress of constant studying and work that comes along with being a university student. Although, technically, this is also an assignment that will be marked for a course, I will be treating it as an escape and a tool to help me unwind from my other courses. I hope to continue this blog after the class has been completed, if I find it is a helpful tool for me.

I read lots of blogs and have bloggers I follow on a regular basis, but had never considered creating a blog for myself until now. The closest thing I had to a blog before this was a Tumblr page, but that consisted of me reading funny posts or looking at funny animal pictures and I believe I will get a lot more out of this blog. This is an exciting new adventure for me, and I think I will really enjoy it.

That's all for this post!

Cheers,

Emma
