VoiceThread is a very interesting tool that we have
discovered this week. It allows you to comment on specific slides of a
slideshow and leaving audio, video, or written comments. This makes it an
interactive slideshow. These comments are open for anyone to read, view, or
hear. This would be a very effective tool for the classroom. A teacher would be
able to teach digitally by leaving comments on each slide and having students
comment or ask questions in return.
Ways I will use this are for collaborative presentations
where we can leave group members comments and questions on specific slides to
avoid miscommunications or confusion. This will be before we publish for our
actual presentation. It could also be great for in the classroom, asking
question like we just did for this class. This would allow teachers and
professors to receive student feedback and see what they have learned about
course content. This is a great tool for students to participate, especially
when shy, and to demonstrate their knowledge. A teacher could use it to gauge class involvement or participation to see who is paying attention or who is in attendance, to ask for student opinions as to what they want to learn in the class, or to gauge where the student are in learning the information.
I do not think I will be adding this to my PLE as I think it
works better for a teacher or professor in a classroom or lecture setting, but
if I were I would place it under my education section.
The VoiceThread we used in class this week was:
Cheers!
